Skate park
This is an illustration I worked on for my partner's nieces. My partner, her niece and I all love to skate, whether that be with a skateboard or roller skates. I decided to put together an illustration of us all at the skate park under the melting summer sun. I organised to get these printed on t-shirts as a surprise gift. I also applied the illustration across various surfboards and skateboards.
I wanted to give a good impression, so I made sure that the characters are all wearing some sort of protective clothing, whether it's a helmet or elbow and knee pads. I also wanted to include some skate culture, so some characters without helmets have skulls for heads. I've included some skate and surf slang as well as some skate history with z-boy characters.
